Scary Cybersecurity Stories: Hacker Tricks and Security Treats for Rural Healthcare

October 28, 2026
Noon

What’s scarier than a convincing phishing email? A stolen password no one notices—or ransomware bringing your clinic’s essential systems to a halt. On October 28 at Noon, join Daniel Schwartz, Founder and President of Design I.T. Solutions, for a practical cybersecurity session created with rural healthcare in mind. Daniel will uncover the tricks attackers use, including:

Social engineering and phishing
Password theft
Malware and ransomware
Unsafe data-handling practices

More importantly, you’ll learn what to do about them. Daniel will share clear, practical steps to reduce risk, respond when something looks suspicious, and build stronger security habits throughout your organization.

With more than 25 years of IT experience, Daniel is a cybersecurity educator, speaker, and member of the Forbes Technology Council. For more than 20 years, Design I.T. Solutions has provided customized managed IT and cybersecurity services to organizations nationwide.

Put this session to work: It may support your clinic’s HIPAA security-awareness program or your cyber liability policy’s training requirements. Please check with your compliance lead and insurance carrier to confirm.

Don’t let hackers trick your organization! Join us for cybersecurity treats you can put into practice.

Millions of Americans rely on family members and friends to provide daily care and support, yet caregivers often face significant emotional, physical, and financial challenges. During this session, participants will learn how SFC empowers families to keep loved ones safely at home while providing caregivers with training, coaching, ongoing support, and financial support for eligible caregivers through Structured Family Caregiving programs.

We will discuss the impact of family caregiving in rural communities, the benefits of caregiver support programs, and how healthcare organizations, providers, and community partners can help connect families to available resources.

Attendees will gain practical insights into improving caregiver well-being, reducing caregiver burden, and supporting better health outcomes for individuals who wish to remain safely in their homes and communities.

Regional Stakeholder Meetings

Stakeholder meetings are held across the state; they are an essential piece of our advocacy, education, and relationship efforts.

Our virtual meetings will bring people together to have a conversation about improved access to care. During a 1.5-hour interactive meeting, participants will rank the feasibility and impact of evidence-based solutions to address access to care. From these meetings, ORHA will identify top priorities for the state to implement to support the Ohio Rural Health Improvement Plan.

Please watch for registration information.
